Dr Emily Marchant

Dr Emily Marchant is the research lead for HAPPEN’s school setting and staff research. This spans the implementation, delivery and evaluation of school-based programmes including Outdoor Learning and The Daily Mile. Covid-related research that Dr Marchant lead from the perspective of school staff includes the perceived impacts of school closures and impacts of school-based mitigation measures on COVID-19 infection and school staff wellbeing. Dr Marchant is currently collaborating with the global COVID-19 Health Literacy network and the National Academy for Education Leadership Cymru and has lead research across Wales, England and Northern Ireland examining the impacts of COVID-19 on senior leadership teams in schools.

Dr Michaela James

Dr Michaela James is the research lead for HAPPEN’s child wellbeing, child-led change and built environment research. This includes physical activity and play based research. Dr Michaela’s most recent research has highlighted the impact of school closures and the impact of Covid-19 on young people’s wellbeing as well as children’s recommendations to improve play. She is currently collaborating with various partners to raise children’s voices and have a say on matters that affect them.
