HAPPEN, along with primary school teachers, mental health organisations and wider stakeholders in Wales has fed into the development and update of the Mentally Healthy Schools website which has been established in order to support primary schools, teachers, parents and carers, and pupils across Wales (and more widely the UK) in meeting the wellbeing needs of their school community.
Data collected from HAPPEN and knowledge and expertise generated from HAPPEN and wider stakeholders has helped to inform the Wales specific pages of the website with links to the HAPPEN website provided within.
The Mentally Healthy Schools website provides free, quality-assured resources and guidance to school staff on mental health and wellbeing. The site was initially developed with English schools in mind. From 1st September, the site is expanding to support teachers in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, providing relevant information, guidance and resources for teachers across the UK. On Mentally Healthy Schools, you will now find:
- Free resources specific to the curriculum in each country
- A resource library filterable by country
- Detailed guidance on a whole-school approach to mental health, written specifically for schools in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales
Over half a million people have accessed the Mentally Healthy Schools site so far, and these changes to the site will ensure it is even more useful for teachers and schools across the UK. Schools can sign up to their mailing list to stay updated and to receive resources and toolkits.
