16 - Ordinary Day DVD Emergency Life Skills
Project aim
This DVD is available for Heartstart schemes teaching lifesaving skills to children and young
people, aged 5-15 years. Heartstart courses include CPR, the recovery position and
recognising the signs of a heart attack. This DVD includes a range of situations for training
including choking, serious bleeding, a suspected heart attack and cardiac arrest. It is
designed for children and young people, aged 5-15 years, illustrating specific emergency life
support skills.
What does the project entail?
During this 40 minute DVD, a range of situations are presented, including choking, serious
bleeding, a suspected heart attack and cardiac arrest. This enables teachers to approach
emergency life skills through the use of a DVD and use as a potential training resource. This
is suitable for ages 6-11 years and 11-14 years.
What is required from the School?
The schools would need to order the DVD through the British Heart Foundation (BHF)
website - Suggested Donation: £10.00 each.
How do the pupils directly benefit?
The pupils will be exposed to emergency life skills in an age appropriate manner, which will
enable them to learn vital emergency aid skills.
