Project aim
SEAL is a set of web-based Welsh- and English- medium resources which enables a school to
develop children and young people’s ability to understand and manage their emotions,
show empathy, set themselves goals and work towards them, and get on well with others.
What does the project entail?
SEAL is a whole-school approach involving assemblies, PSHE lessons and whole-school
frameworks for such things as conflict resolution.
What is required from the School?
The school can simply download and use the national resources, at no cost. They can also if
they wish become members of the online SEAL Community, which gives access to further
resources and a termly newsletter. Training in getting started with SEAL and developing a
whole-school approach is also available on request.
How do the pupils directly benefit?
Pupils learn how to manage strong emotions such as anxiety and anger. They develop
resilience and improved social skills. Evidence shows benefits to mental health, welllbeing
and attainment.
