Project aim
Play Wales is the national charity for children's play. Play Wales is an independent charity
funded by the Welsh Government - our area of charitable remit is Wales. We work to raise
awareness of children and young people's need and right to play and to promote good
practice at every level of decision making and in every place where children might play. We
provide advice and guidance to support all those who have an interest in, or responsibility
for providing for children's play so that one day Wales will be a place where we recognise
and provide well for every child's play needs.
What does the project entail?
The right to play workshop. To raise children’s awareness of their right to play, Play Wales
has developed a Right to play workshop pack. It includes a workshop plan, materials and
resources to support the local promotion, participation and advocacy of the Right to Play.
The workshop is designed for play workers, participation workers, youth workers and school
staff to facilitate in schools and other structured settings.
What is required from the School?
Play rangers observing and overseeing play.
How do the pupils directly benefit?
Pupils learn the importance of play. All of play rights services assist schools to better meet
article 31 of the UNCRC, and support the element of learning through play at foundation
phase.
