HAPPEN School Health Network
How do the pupils directly benefit?
The schools will benefit from engaging with the Healthy Schools Scheme, as it will ensure
that schools are working towards a phase of the scheme, embedding health improvement
into mapping and planning of the curriculum, school ethos and environment and general
awareness of health in and around the school.
Pupils can develop a healthy schools committee, meeting regularly to discuss health in their
school, which in effect will provide excellent lifelong skills and a focus and awareness of
health. Schools can take advantage of healthy schools training and resources which can be
cascaded on a whole school level.
Ultimately, the healthy schools scheme will have an impact on the overall health of all pupils
in schools who are engaged with the scheme.
